We were asked to help out a couple of single moms sharing a home in Coushatta, LA. In the small house there were the two moms and six kids living in three bedrooms. According to the adults, the activity seemed to be centered around the children and included a visiting girl waking up in the middle of the night to find an old woman standing in the doorway to the kitchen staring toward a sink and having trouble breathing. The girl will no longer spend the night in the home. A shadowy figure was seen standing in the doorway to the home while the adults sat outside on the front porch late one night. Upon investigating, there was noone at the door and none of the kids were awake. Whatever entity was in the house seemed to take a particular delight in scaring the youngest and loudest boy who is two. Several unexplainable accidents happened to the boy causing him to hurt his head and his eye. The history of the home as provided by the occupants included two old women having died in the home at separate times.
Given all of this information, we were eager to setup an investigation. It was agreed upon by the group and the occupants to investigate the weekend after Thanksgiving. They were going to send the kids off to spend the night and we'd have free reign of the house. Well, it didn't quite work out that way. We arrived at the scheduled time and of course they had forgotten about the investigation. They worked with us anyway and kept the kids in one end of the house so that we could have access to the affected areas. They really did a pretty good job of keeping them quiet and out of our way considering the size of the house and the number of kids.
We setup our equipment about 8pm and went to work. By midnight we felt we had all the evidence we were going to get that night because the quieter our end of the house got, the noisier the other end got. So our investigation lasted about two hours total.
Upon examination of the evidence (one Infrared camera and several digital camera's and voice recorders), we found what might have been a couple of decent EVP's if it hadn't been a situation where you could occasionally hear a kid in the background as well. We've decided that with the obvious contamination problem, we can't trust the audio. Nothing was captured on video or photo.
