HISTORY
Thanks Rachael and Chris for the following write-up:
Built circa 1916, it was a hardware store for most of its days. It was the “Selig and
Baughman Hardware Co. Inc.” (Baghman pronounced Backman). The
pronunciation is significant for one of the EVP’s gathered at the location. One of
the original owners, Mr. Selig, reportedly committed suicide in the basement
years ago by shooting himself. The Davis’ purchased the location in early ’07 and
Kathy moved into an apartment in the back of the building while cleaning it and
renovating it to open the café/antique store.
Activity started almost immediately with Kathy. She has heard coughing over her
shoulder on many occasions and reports lots of unexplained noises along with
numerous touches, mostly on her hair. The activity reported in this place was the
owner being touched occasionally, she would hear a male coughing when there
would be no one else around, odd sensations of being watched, and on one or two
occasions, physical objects being moved, which was said to be witnessed by
employees as well as patrons of the establishment.
INVESTIGATION
The building was constructed in the early 1900’s. It is rumored through local folks
that there was a livery there at one time and was later converted to a hardware
store. Also rumored, the owner, committed suicide in the basement, but this
could not be verified through historical documents. All in all, it is a beautiful place
owned by wonderful people.
The Investigation:
We arrived onsite at approximately 8pm on the evening of March 9th. Immediately
we set to work, filling out the proper paperwork and touring the building with the
owners. We set up two IR cameras, one in the basement and one upstairs.
As the night began, in the basement, the case manager was confronted by a
strange swirling mist, which was witnessed by another investigator as well.
The owner of the establishment ventured upstairs, with two of our investigators
and claimed to be touched. At the time that she announced this, our investigator
took a picture and there is a bright “orb” just to the side of her head where she
says she felt this presence.
As time progressed and investigators rotated positions, there were other
happenings. In the basement, an employee claimed that he was touched on his
hand, (at his invitation) and our investigators snapped a picture only to find a large
orb out to the side of the hand that he had claimed to be touched on. There were
quite a few EVP’s recorded in the basement area, as well as an investigator
hearing a soft humming. There was also a horrendous crash in the upper area of
the building that could not be explained after several people looked into it. Also, in
the basement, one of our investigators, as well as the owner of the establishment
were attempting EVP work, when at the same time, they both felt what seemed to
be a hand laid upon each of their backs. They thought perhaps it was the other
investigator on site with them, but at that moment she was several steps behind
them.
Throughout the establishment, we recorded several EVP’s that were direct
responses to questions or our own personal conversations. This, along with the
personal experiences of our investigators and the business owners, leads us to
believe that there is definitely paranormal activity in this location. We have a
follow up investigation pending.

childs while an investigator is talking.
