INVESTIGATION
We were very honored to make our return trip to the historic Deridder Gothic Jail.
Based on inconclusive findings from our first visit, we were very eager to conduct
a follow up investigation. Despite our first visit, which consisted of a full CCTV
Surveillance camera setup, we decided to go "old school", which means we used
just portable equipment such as voice recorders, hand held cameras, emf
meters, and infra-red thermometers. As far as activity, we received several
unexplainable spikes in electromagnetic energy and on two separate occasions,
when we asked for some sort of "sign" that "someone" was there, we heard
what sounded like metal striking the bars of one of the 2nd floor jail cells. This
occurred basically on command, as it happened every time we asked for a "sign".
As far as recorded evidence, we received three interesting audio recordings. I
was the only male present that night, yet on two recordings, we captured the
voice of a male speaking, however the clarity isn't very good, so we cannot clearly
decipher what is being said. In another recording, we get another clear male voice
which sounds like it is saying "warden". In conclusion, I think we received more
interesting evidence than what we obtained from our first visit. What is
troublesome are all the open windows and the location of the jail, which is right on
a very busy street. These factors make it very hard to obtain untainted, quality
evidence. "Light anomalies" are often ruled out due to the traffics' lights and open
windows and "orbs" will almost always be associated with the vast amount of
dust in the area. Still, once again, unexplainable evidence and events were
captured in the Gothic Jail. This is always one of our most favorite places to
investigate and we will continue to return with the help of the gracious police jury
and Ms. Lori Veazy of the tourist commission.
