Very little is actually known about the Kirkwood residence. In all
attempts to search for history on the home, we kept being
brought back to the Olivier House, which is actually another
home. However, what we did discover is that the same family of
Oliviers actually owned both properties. The Kirkwood home is
said to have been built around the 1920's, where as the Olivier
Home was constructed in the late 1800's.
We were contacted by the current homeowners, who claimed to
have had strange occurrences take place for several years. The
most commonly reported activity was footsteps being heard
upstairs, objects being thrown from shelves, shadows being
seen, and doors opening on their own.
We arrived at the residence with a small group of six
investigators and Kenneth Hickson of the Daily Iberian. After
additional interviews with the homeowners were conducted, we
began to setup our equipment and also took base readings of the
areas.
Despite a few "uneasy feelings" experienced by some of the
investigators, no substantial events took place during the night.
We were able to debunk several of the happenings previously
reported such as the footsteps and strange lights. Due to the age
of the house, walking on one end, radiates the noise throughout
the home. As one investigator flashed a flashlight a downstairs
AC vent, the light radiated through the duct and emerged out of
the second story floor, appearing to be a strange light of
unknown origin. It is often surprising at how some events that
were once looked upon as completely unexplainable can be
recreated in such a simple fashion.
However, the night was not filled with debunking alone. Once the
investigation was complete, we began to filter through all of the
video and audio recordings. Of the data collected, one very clear
sound clip was recovered. As Lori asked "is there anyone here
that would like to speak with us", you can hear a very loud and
distinct "No" responding to her.
In closing, as said in similar investigations, even though
legitimate evidence is collected, this does not always enable us
to truly label the location as "haunted". What is proven is that
there are, in fact, paranormal events taking place at the Kirkwood
home and, based on evidence collected, a follow up investigation
is warranted.
1. No - You will hear a distinct "NO" after an investigator as a
question.
